  We primarily use standard tempered 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch clear glass in most of our installations. With an extensive catalog of frameless shower door hardware options to choose from and shower door hardware by US Horizon. The standard tempered clear glass can sometimes appear to have a slightly green tint to it. This green tint is due to the normal iron content within the standard glass. We offer star-fire clear, known for its low iron content. This glass is for our customers that prefer to significantly lower the green tint effect. However, since the green tint is usually almost unnoticeable, we normally do not recommend it because the additional expense is unjustified unless the tile used to build the shower area is a very light or white color. When a light colored or white tile is used, the green hue from standard clear glass becomes more apparent and can detract from the overall desired appearance of the shower area. Whether deciding to use a patterned glass, standard tempered clear, or low iron content clear glass known as star-fire clear, there are some things you may want to consider. Budget is a factor to consider since each pattern costs a little more than traditional standard clear. Patterned glass also has a tendency to reduce light transmittance, causing the shower area to be darkened while in use. A special rated light for wet areas, located within the shower area, is highly recommended for this reason.
